Otava

One of those places where the memory of holidays at grandma's smells, bare feet in the morning dew, smoke from unlit fires, scraped knees, burnt shoulders, first kiss - pure happiness.

Holidays, childhood. A time that stood by and just peeked and waited. Eventually he caught up with us, tied us up and made us stumble along with him. But the Otava is a journey against time, a journey towards the river and building dams of stones and catching crayfish under the gnarled roots of alders on the banks. The Otava is a pause in memory, a whiff of a long-forgotten moment of commitment to a first kiss - here I felt it on my lips again.

The river and the pastures, the thorn bushes, the horizon and the ancient castle - perhaps it is haunted, certainly haunted, as every castle we thought of was once haunted.

Aranka loves walnut wood, but she also loves smells, and it was the captivating scent of flowering yarrow, mint, morning glory, wormwood and comfrey that brought her to the pastures, which recall the paintings of the old Dutch masters. The light here is soft, honeyed, and even the smallest leaf on this magical canvas has its light and shade. Otava is a place for poets and dreamers who fall into dreams with a soft blush on their faces.

Aranka chooses for herself only charming and peaceful places in the heart of nature. Her current one is located on the upper reaches of the Otava River between Sušica and Horažďovice, about 2 hours from Prague, 1 hour from Pilsen, or 1.5 hours from České Budějovice.

Reservation conditions

Although Aranka is capable of accommodating up to four lodgers, she is primarily intended for lovers. However, she’ll be more than happy to accommodate a family with three children if they decide to come.

Aranka would like her guests to spend at least two nights with her. Shorter bookings are not possible.

It’s a bit of an annoyance, but we also need your consent to the General Terms and Conditions of hideandseek. They also include the Aranka Code of Ethics and Safety and Technical Rules (Technical Manual).

How to make a reservation

Click to select the day of arrival and the day of departure in our calendar. Fill in a few necessary details and that's it. Please be aware that at least 2 nights must be reserved.

Prices and payment

Aranka costs CZK 4,014 per night from Monday to Friday. The CZK 14 is the price of an oak seedling, which will be planted during your stay at Aranka in a place where the pine trees, which cannot get enough moisture from the soil for their lives, are withering. The price for weekends is a thousand crowns and one oak seedling per night higher. So CZK 5,028. The prices include 10% VAT.

In order for your reservation to be deemed confirmed, the payment made by wire transfer must be credited to our bank account no later than three working days after the reservation is made.

Cancellation?

If, after paying for a reservation, you decide that you no longer want to go to Aranka, we won’t be sending the payment back to you, however you can take comfort in the fact that you will be paying for someone who couldn’t afford it on their own (a single mother, student, ...) to stay there.

What you don’t need to bring to Aranka

Aranka has basic equipment and ingredients for your gastronomic pleasure, such as Nepalese salt, cane sugar, Arabic coffee, Sicilian virgin olive oil and Oolong Japanese green tea. The kitchen has a pan, pot, a mocha teapot, a french press coffee maker, a teapot, cups, mugs, wine glasses, sharp knives and butter knives, plates, bowls, a wine opener, a potato peeler, a pasta or salad strainer. Organic cosmetics await you in the bathroom. There is a barbecue grill and a hammock in front of Aranka.

In the fridge you will find wines from Nepraš, Pilsner Urquell beer and olives.

What else is good to know…

In addition to Aranka with a heated sauna, a fire in the fireplace, fluffy comforters and chilled wine, the caretaker George is also waiting for you. He will tell you everything about Aranka, what she likes, what she doesn't like, but also where you can go for a romantic dinner, from where it’s best to watch the sunset, which spot is closest to the stars, where you can go down the river in a canoe, where you can fish and much more. George is a Renaissance man, so don’t be afraid to ask him about anything if you need something else,

Please arrive at the meeting place on time so that Aranka and George won’t be waiting long for you. Check-in is 3 pmcheck-out until 11 am or you can arrange it with George individually (‭+420 603 925 730‬).

A safe place to park your car is only 450 m from Aranka.
